There as many reasons as there are
pilots. Some have always dreamed of owing their own
aircraft, some are pursuing a flying career; some recognize
a light aircraft to be a useful business tool. Whatever
the specific reason, all pilots have one thing in common
– the sheer excitement and love for a life aloft.

Chiangmai Flying Club is a not-for-profit
flying club both offering flying and ground school training
for the Thai PPL and offering aircraft for hire to suitably
qualified pilots.
We normally fly every day subject to demand. Advance
booking essential for all courses. Sundays are normally
Club days when we have Air Traffic Control on duty at
Lamphun. Visitng pilots and new members welcome.

Full
& part time training for Thai PPL.
Come and join our intensive course. Cost includes full
ground-school and 60 hours flying training. Courses
tailored to suit individual student requirements and
are ideal for those who wish to complete the Private
Pilot's Course in the minimum time. Thai Department
of Aviation PPL examinations are held every three months.

* All new foreign student pilots who wish to apply
for Thai PPL training should complete the International
Student Application Form which will help speed up DCA
processing for issue of SPL - This form can be downloaded
here

As
a licensed pilot with a converted Thai
licence you can rent an aeroplane from the club,
with or without a safety pilot by your side or
join our regular pilot training courses and learn
to fly yourself. Flight instruction is available
and undertaken by our experienced instructors.
The club undertake private pilot's licence training
courses, under the authority of the Thai Department
of Aviation; this includes both ground school
technical and flying training from its airfield
at Lamphun and its school premises in Chiangmai. |

Trial
lesson: If you have ever wanted to try your hand at
flying then come and have a trial flight lesson with
one of our flight instructors. The club have a special
package which includes temporary membership, a pre-flight
briefing plus a 1 hour flying lesson. Cost is 5,500
baht including temporary club membership and insurance.

Getting
started! You can start at any age, although
you must be 16 to solo and 17 to get a pilot certificate
– Private Pilot’s Licence (PPL). A
current medical certificate will allow you to
continue. All you need is some dedication, a handful
of pilot tools, and of course some money –
although flying in Thailand is considerably cheaper
than in many places. |
